With our recent pandemic, most therapists have refashioned themselves to be quite techy. I have definitely made great strides in that arena. I became more comfortable with providing TMH (telemental health) services. My preference is for in-person appointments to track all nonverbal, be to able to do spontaneous therapy or grounding techniques that are not permittable on video, to be able to give out handouts or loan books centered on discussions from the day without adding all kinds of steps, and just because in-person appointments never have technical glitches.
But there are times that due to client’s job schedule or restrictions, health or car issues, etc. that TMH appointments makes therapy possible when it couldn’t take place before. I have met all the TMH standards for providing ethical counseling appointments on-line and feel quite comfortable and capable to facilitate video sessions to be as smooth as possible.
I have certain requirements and expectations for TMH appointments which can be discussed if you inquire about this service.
Please note a few insurances do not allow TMH appointments on a routine basis but most allow nowadays.
